After clear discrimination of Facebook for not banning blasphemous Fan Page, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom has directed PTA to ban Facebook Page in Pakistan, told us sources close to authority.
A reliable source, who is in direct contact with Secretary MoIT, told ProPakistani that ministry has issued the directive to PTA to ban said blasphemous content in the country.
Ministry of Information Technology directs PTA for banning any URL or whole of website in case of any inappropriate content available on it.
It is yet to be ascertained if the whole Facebook will be banned or just a single URL will be filtered. In both the situations, Step is inline with thousands of Facebook users and according to their urge of boycotting Facebook on May 20th.
It merits mentioning here that a Fan Page on Facebook is encouraging its members to draw Prophet Mohammad’s drawings (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa-aal-hi-Wasallam).
Despite thousands of requests, Facebook didn’t put this page down even it violated Facebook’s own terms of services.
Update: (3:14 PM – May 18, 2010) We have received confirmation from PTA that directive has been issued to all ISPs for blocking a single URL (of the particular Fan Page). Order was issued by Yawar Yasin, Director Enforcement PTA.
PTCL has confirmed the recipient of the order and said that specific URL is in process of being blocked throughout its network.
Update: (8:24 PM – May 18, 2010) Facebook fan page in question is still opening on various ISPs, however, reports are coming that specific URL is inaccessible on selected ISPs. Complete blackout is expected later tonight.

I have many friends on facebook and i used facebook all the day. But for our Beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) i am with government to block such idiot website. and if this matter resolves and facebook reopens, i will love to share Holocaust matter on face book… hun khush

Very GReat step taken by Pakistani Govt Thats the power of our unity we should also unite in every issue and we should not bear anything onn our beloved prophed Hazrat Muhammad(Sallallah ho alaihe wassallam) and Where is all muslims countries pakistan has done great job but all muslims countries should also do same as pakistan….Proud 2 be pakistani

Facebook will only face lose if a permanent ban on fb is issued. The 2 bn thing are just rumours.
an regarding the thing u heard, that is only for websites with very low traffic. on such websites, the owners get paid when someone clicks on the ad.
but on fb, companies pay before the ad is shown. If a permanent ban is issued, then paki companies will stop giving ads on fb and fb will face loss.
I think that either a perma ban should be issued or the current ban be taken back.

yeah……ALLAH is great..lets kill every body….they are infidels..the muslims are the greatest,ISLAM is the greatest religion….we dont care about any body….we will not stop suicide bombing untill all the israeli and americans are dead…they are infidels…..they should be murdered in cold blood…thats what our religion teaches…i love killing so we should kill the non muslims….hurray lets start from pakistan…we are all illitrates and lets remain that way…..no to western technologies….let us face book with slates….and chalks…..that would be our greatest achievement in the muslim world…
