Several casualties feared in Karachi blast

KARACHI: At least 11 people were killed and over 50 other people were injured when a powerful explosion occurred in a public vehicle plying on Sharah-e-Faisal of Karachi, media reported Friday.

According to Geo News, the blast occurred in a mini bus near Nursery stop towards FTC. The injured riding a mini bus coming from Malir, include children and women.

Police and other rescue workers have arrived on the spot. The road leading to Saddar has been blocked and the blast site has been cordoned off.

According to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred near a furniture market situated near the Sharah-e-Faisal.

The Geo News correspondent said at least 50 people were injured in the blast, who have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Various injured are in critical state. Also a body has been moved from the scene.

All the casualties have been moved from the blast scene.

According to eyewitnesses, a motorcyclist hit the ill-fated vehicle to cause the mishap. The bus was completely damaged in the blast.

The Jinnah Hospital sources confirmed to Geo News of at least 11 deaths.

After the blast, people gathered to protest and raised slogans. People in large number gathered at Jinnah Hospital as well.

After the aftermath of Yesterday 28th December 2009,Karachi ASHURA Suicide Bomb blast, some miscreant had burned down 2000 Shops causing Billion of Rupees Loss. These markets are the Oldest Whole-sale markets where from Chemical to other imported goods being whole-sales through out Pakistan.

The loss is bigger then the loss the SUCIDE BOMBER did, We ask every responsible Pakistani to come up & support our Karachi Shopkeeper who had served our Community since years of hardships and now its Our time to help our Brethren Shopkeeper to find them a way out of their Today`s Misery.

We also need to support our Trade-Community with Moral & Financial Help, the Bomber had affected 40-Families, and the angry mob had caused dogmatic losses to more than 2000 Families.

They need our Support Financially, please join us so we can support our suffering Trade-Community out of this Crises.

We request Youth & other Social Organization to step up and gather @ Bolton Market so we can access the losses they`ve countered, Bring Cameras with you if you have.

Blast at Karachi Ashura procession

KARACHI: At least 43 people were killed and scores of people wounded on Monday after a powerful blast ripped through Karachi’s main Ashura procession at MA Jinnah Road.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Saghir Ahmed confirmed Geo that 20 people were martyred in the blast.

The blast triggered stampede and panic among the mourners, who pelted stones at the police vehicles. Some eyewitnesses said they have heard some gunshots on the occasion.

The ambulances soon reached the blast site and shifted the injured to the hospitals, where emergency has already been declared.

Fire broke out after the blast in Karachi, fanning thick smoke into the sky, and people were running in all directions, an AFP reporter said.

Police sources said they are trying to confirm the nature of the blast.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the blast that ripped through the main Ashura procession in Karachi.

In a separate message from London, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the bomb blast occurred at the Karachi’s main Ashura procession today.

Hussain appealed to the mourners to maintain calm after the blast
