Google Pakistan, in partnership with P@SHA, is holding a workshop on Online Marketing on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at T2F in Karachi from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. followed by a quick lunch.

This talk, which will be facilitated by Badar Khushnood, Pakistan Consultant for Google, will help Pakistani technology companies to harness the power of the internet for promoting their products and services to potential local & global customers most economically. This course will also explore various tools and applications that are available online, for marketers.

HYDERABAD: Tens of thousand devotees of great Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai started arriving at Bhit Shah Town from different parts of the country to pay tribute to him on his 266th annual Urs celebrations.

Bhit Shah Town, located some 50 kilometres away from here in district Matiari has been decorated with ceremonial gates right from the main entrance of the town to the mausoleum of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

Vendors have established makeshift shops for selling Quranic verses inscribed ‘Chaddars’, flowers and floral wreaths, rose petals, sweets, dry fruits, garments, artificial jewellery, footwear and traditional handicrafts and handlooms of Sindh. Shops would also be selling cassettes, CDs and VCDs of music laced with the grandeur of Shah’s poetic philosophy.

Besides establishing tents for temporary accommodation of the flocking devotees, the local people would be providing the same by converting their houses into boarding and lodging places on the occasion of the urs.

Horse racing and dog fighting shows would also be featured as part of the celebrations.
The people would not only frolic from the aforesaid arrangements, but the traditional wrestling events, called in the local vernacular as ‘Malha’, would be organised to enthral the visiting devotees.

The auditorium, centre of excellence, museum and rest houses have also been renovated for organising of official functions and accommodations.

Heavy contingent of Police reached the town from different districts of the province to help the local police in maintaining law and order.

Sindh Government has declared holiday in the province on Jan 30 and all learning institutions would be closed on the day.

Secretary Culture Department Shams Jafrani had announced earlier that Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad would inaugurate the urs celebrations on Jan 30 by laying floral wreath and offering fateha at the Mazar of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, while the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah would be the chief guest at Shah Abdul Latif Awards distribution ceremony on the concluding day of the urs on Feb 1.

LINCOLN: Pakistan colts in a hard-fought final of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup were beaten by 25 runs against Australia boys with 20 balls remaining here on Saturday.

Both teams were running to win the title for the third time in the history of Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Chasing a moderate target of 208 runs, Pakistan batsmen batted well against sea winds and accurate Aussie bowlers but could make182 runs in 46.4 overs.

Captain Azeem Ghumman was the top-scorer with 41. He batted with calm and caution hitting only one four in 90 balls.

However, Hammad Azam, the most prolific scorer who has been unbeaten throughout the tournament could not maintain his record and was dismissed for a nought, caught behind by Triffitt off Hazlewood. His early ouster made a panic in the Pakistan team’s dressing room.

Earlier, Pakistan winning the toss decided to send Kangaroos first and kept their grip tight over the match.

Sarmad Bhatti grabbed three wickets and Fayyaz Butt claimed two as the Aussies were 207-9 in 50 overs in the final counter of tournament.

Though Pakistani pacers successfully claiming wickets on regular intervals but they failed in keeping run rate down while the Aussies persistently collected ones, twos, three and certain times boundaries and out of the park.

The leading run scorers from Australian side were JS Floros (35), TJ Armstrong (37) and KW Richardson (44).

Prosecutor produces no concrete proofs

WASHINGTON: The hearing in the prevailing week of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case has come to end here in a New York court during which, the prosecutor could only produce witnesses with contradictions in their testimonies against Aafia, Geo news said.

Two more witnesses were questioned on weekend of hearing in the case including an FBI investigation officer and the other was eyewitness in the case.

She, on many occasions during the proceedings of Friday’s hearing, kept voicing concerns over the eligibility and sincerity of counsels defending her in the case.

Also, she asked the judge for allowing her meeting with US president Obama as according to her, she could be helpful in maintenance of peace in Afghanistan.

It is expected that the hearing in the case will remain continued into next week as per schedule as the justice gave this observation of hearing continuation for completion of hearing by next week.

MQM – Party of not just Sindh but Pakistan

MULTAN: Member of MQM Coordination Committee Iftikhar Akbar Randhawa Saturday claimed that the public meeting of his party scheduled to be held in Lahore on February 28 will prove that MQM is not just a party of Sindh but of the entire Pakistan.

He said this while talking to journalists here at Multan Press Club.

Iftkhar Akbar Randhawa said MQM is the only political party that is struggling for the rights of 98 percent people belonging to the poor segments of the society.

He said Altaf Hussain aspires for establishment of a system based on justice by eliminating price hike, unemployment and corruption.
